Learn to sew and knit! Classes for children and adults start Oct 2. New classes for Fall include mastering your own sewing machine, basic quilting, and how to knit a hat and socks. We also have Saturday morning and after-school classes for kids. At SewGreen, everyone has fun and everyone succeeds. Sign up today!

We assess, clean, oil, and tune-up most sewing machines, new and old. We also troubleshoot problems with tension and stitch and show you how to get the best performance from your machine. Make an appointment to have your machine tuned up. We also refurbish older and contemporary machines for resale -- but they go quickly.

Learn and Earn
SewGreen has free apprenticeships and after-school jobs for young people 14 to 21. We provide training in sewing and teaching others to sew, as well as skills needed to work in our retail store. Contact the Ithaca Youth Bureau, The Learning Web, Workforce NY, or your high school counselor for a referral.

The SewGreen store is open 11 am to 6 pm Monday through Friday; 11 am to 5 pm Saturday and Sunday.

SewGreen now has slightly used art supplies for sale in its Art ReStart section. We have paints, drawing materials, canvases, stretchers, sketch books, and more. Have art supplies you no longer want? Donate them for reuse!


Starting with a preview sale Thursday Oct 1, 6 to 9 pm, SewGreen will unveil a collection of Eileen Fisher gently-used apparel from the "Green Eileen" give-back program. The quality and styes are top-flight, and the prices surprisingly low. Can't make the preview? That's okay. Now through the end of the year, we will have a steady supply of Eileen Fisher garments for sale every day.

Our newest companion store is Thrive Ethical Fashion, which has taken over the space from The Art and Found. Owner Andrea Koschmann is skilled at selecting contemporary styles from small U.S. companies and local designers. Thrive and SewGreen are hosting an indoor-outdoor show of fashions you can feel good about, Friday, October 2, at 7 pm, as part of downtown Ithaca's Gallery Night. Come see how easy it is to be fashionable and ethical.

Rescue your clothes! SewGreen has seamstress services for mending and simple alterations. Drop off items any time the store is open. Fast turn-around time and reasonable prices.
